FLEXIBLE CUBICLES WITH AIR

Flex air stall

Our well-known flexible Flex Stall cubicle now includes an integrated air supply that creates a continuous flow of fresh air from outside directly into the cubicle. At a 45-degree angle, fresh air is blown from the upper rail of the cubicle down onto the cow, creating an ideal environment that ensures cow comfort and welfare.

Why choose ventilation in the cubicle?

Many dairy farmers experience heat stress in cows during summer, which can reduce milk yield. Cows perform best between 5–18 °C, but signs of stress can already appear at 20 °C. Heat stress causes cows to seek areas with the greatest airflow. This increases traffic in the barn, stress levels and the risk of hoof and udder diseases, while milk yield may decline.

Flex Air Stall reduces heat stress by offering cows a cool and comfortable resting area. This ensures optimal rest and rumination, which supports both cow health and milk production.

How does it work?

In many barns, it can be challenging to replace stagnant air in and around the cubicles. The Flex Air Stall system brings fresh air from outside the barn directly down into the cubicle. This is done with a motor-driven fan that draws air into a tube connected to each cubicle.

What is the difference?

When fresh air is brought directly from outside into the cubicle, cows are more willing to lie down, even on hot days. Many barn fans today mainly provide ventilation higher up in the building or in open areas. As a result, cows often remain standing rather than lying down because they move towards the airflow. Flex Air Stall delivers fresh air exactly where your cows need it most – in the cubicle, where most of the milk production takes place. With fans installed outside the barn, cows receive fresh air throughout their resting time.

Keep your cows healthy and calm in the heat

With Flex Air Stall, cows receive optimal ventilation and improved comfort during hot days. The Flex Stall system ensures correct cow traffic and proper positioning in the cubicle without stress, while ventilation in the cubicle creates the ideal resting environment. Less stress means better rest, a stronger immune system and increased milk production.

More possibilities in one unique product

Flex Air Stall offers the same high level of flexibility for adapting to different cow sizes and breeds already known from Flex Stall. The equipment can be adjusted to suit the animals, allowing the full potential of the flexible system to be used, while the cow receives fresh air through the connected ventilation system. This reduces the risk of pressure points or injuries to the cow while also reducing the risk of disease and production loss caused by heat stress.

Heat stress can negatively affect reproduction

Heat stress in cows can have serious consequences. Most people associate heat stress with mastitis and production loss, but the effects go far beyond immediate problems.

A cow exposed to heat stress during pregnancy can affect her offspring for several generations. Heat stress negatively affects the development of the foetus, particularly the development of the immune system. If the calf’s immune system does not develop properly, the calf will be more susceptible to disease, which in the long term may result in lower lifetime production.
